that is to say, we haue acceptit the said James, with the consent of the said George, his bruthir, to succeid in the first place as tenent to the west half of the Grange of Arlie eftir the deces of Jhone Spaldin, his fader; and inlykwys has componit with the said George, with consent of the said James, his bruthir, that cpihowswrneuir that the est half of the said grange salhappin to vaik, be deces of Margret Lyndsay and hir barne, contenit in the common sele that thay haif now sen the tyme of the dait j m v c xxxj zeris, or at sche marie, sway that sche and hir barne tyne thair rycht, be thir presentis is content to ressaif the said George to the said est half;
the saidis James and George payand the malis, dewiteis, and seruice contenit in the said lettir of tak, togidder with thair compositiones ; that is to say, the said James instantlye xx* 5 crownis of wycht, and the said George ten crownes of the samin, and vthir ten at his entres thairto ; and for thair securite has delyuerit thame the copy of the common sele, subscriuit be Jhone Eobeson, notare, and the copy of this composition, extrackit be Dene Peter Trent, subscriuit be the said Johne Eobeson:

das heißt, wir haben den besagten James mit Zustimmung des besagten George, seines Bruders, an erster Stelle als Pächter der westlichen Hälfte des Grange of Arlie nach dem Tod von Jhone Spaldin, seines Vaters, akzeptiert; und inlykwys hat mit dem besagten George, mit Zustimmung des besagten James, seines Bruders, vereinbart, dass die östliche Hälfte des besagten Grange, die dem Vaik gehört, an Margret Lyndsay und ihre Kinder übergehen soll, dass sie jetzt in der Zeit des Tages, an dem sie sterben, oder in der Zeit ihrer Hochzeit, dass sie und ihre Familie in dieser Zeit leben, sich damit begnügen, dem besagten George die besagte Hälfte zu überlassen;

SASINE OF JOHN SPALDING, son of James Spalding, of the half of the lands of Grange of Airlie: 31 Jan 1561

INSTRUMENT of Sasine, dated 31st January 1560-61, of John Spalding, son and apparent heir of James Spalding, proceeding upon a feu-charter by Donald [Campbell], Abbot of Coupar, and his convent, to the said John and the lawful heirs male of his body, whom failing, his heirs male bearing the surname and arms of Spalding, and his male assignees of that name, of the half of the lands of Grange of Erlie with the wester toft thereof now laboured by the said James, and their pertinents, lying in the regality of St. Andrews, lordship of Coupar, and sheriffdom of Forfar ; and precept of sasine by the said abbot directed to Patrick Spalding as bailie, dated at the monastery (of Coupar) 10th November 1560 and subscribed thus, " D. de Cupro ; Thomas Hammiltone, prior ; Willelmus Baxter, Alex r Andersone, Robertus Drisdaill, Joannes Maistirtone, Joannes Fogo, junior, Willelmus Afflek, Joannes Turnnbull, Barnardus Murdostoun, Thomas Drone, Andreas Moncur, Petrus Trentt." Patrick Spalding accordingly gives sasine to the said John, personally, upon the ground of the said lands and at the said toft, about 9 a.m. before witnesses, George Spalding, William Nichole, Robert Smyth, Andrew Rathruay (?), and John Smyth, notary public. John Robisone, clerk of the diocese of Dunblane, and notary public, appends his docquet.

Januar 1560-61, von John Spalding, Sohn und rechtmäßiger Erbe von James Spalding, ausgehend von einer Feu-Charta von Donald [Campbell], Abt von Coupar, und seinem Konvent, an den genannten John und die rechtmäßigen männlichen Erben seines Körpers, in Ermangelung dessen seinen männlichen Erben, die den Familiennamen und das Wappen von Spalding tragen, und seinen männlichen Rechtsnachfolgern dieses Namens, die Hälfte der Ländereien von Grange of Erlie mit dem westlichen Teil davon, die jetzt von dem besagten James bewirtschaftet werden, und deren Zugehörigkeiten, die in der Grafschaft von St. Andrews, Herrschaft Coupar, liegen. Andrews, der Herrschaft von Coupar und dem Sheriffdom von Forfar; und eine vom besagten Abt an Patrick Spalding als Vogt gerichtete Sasine, datiert im Kloster (von Coupar) am 10. November 1560 und folgendermaßen unterschrieben: "D. de Cupro; Thomas Hammiltone, Prior; Willelmus Baxter, Alex r Andersone, Robertus Drisdaill, Joannes Maistirtone, Joannes Fogo, junior, Willelmus Afflek, Joannes Turnnbull, Barnardus Murdostoun, Thomas Drone, Andreas Moncur, Petrus Trentt". Patrick Spalding gibt dem besagten John dementsprechend persönlich auf dem Grund der besagten Ländereien und am besagten Hof gegen 9 Uhr vor den Zeugen George Spalding, William Nichole, Robert Smyth, Andrew Rathruay (?) und John Smyth, Notar. John Robisone, Beamter der Diözese Dunblane und Notar, fügt sein Dokument bei.
